user experience
I got in touch with a a farmer in Hampshire who told me his experience with climate change and his worries on the longevity of agriculture . The farmer also introduced me to the significance of soil.

the solution is soil
From my user advocating on the significance of soil, this became the focal point of my idea, I found that soil is the second largest carbon sink and is a great natural ally, that needs protecting.

why are we not protecting the soil?
With soil being such a integral natural alley in mitigating climate challenges and protecting our planet, why is agricultural practices not protecting it?
I found key issues to why agriculture is still so poorly mismanaged :

initial three routes:
With extreme over fertilisation and the protection of soil being
my main concern for this project, I researched and created various ideation exploring the diverse ways AI can be incorporated into
agriculture to help alleviate this issues to mitigate climate change
gaia
This idea utilises Chempeg technology and AI for accurate NPK measuring to ensure farmers apply accurate fertiliser to the soil.

flux
This idea utilises an AI driven automated drip irrigation system equipped with soil moisture sensors to address irrigation challenges. This aims to mitigate climate change by reducing water waste which contributes to excess ferltiser being washed into our environments and reduce soil microbes leading to unhealthy soil.

This idea utilises AI UAV drones for precise weather monitoring to help farmers regulate their fertilisation to ensure it is applied without weather influences impacting the land and allows farmers to strategically plan for climate threats and prevent fertiliser run off into natural environments contributing to climate change.
evolve

user opinion
From the farmers feedback he said that
GAIA, the soil sensor idea most suited his needs:

branding development
I began developing the branding by defining the core values, visual direction, and colour palette.
The brand concept centres on the collaboration between the natural environment and AI. Inspired by the hexagonal shape of the sensor, I chose this structure as the core visual element.
The hexagon became an iconic and recognisable form within the identity. It also strengthens the evolution of the brand name from GAIA to Terra Hex, enhancing clarity, directness, and overall recognisability.

developing the hex app
Here I explored UI designs for the app through sketches and brief illustrations, learning what should be considered in each section to ensure positive engagement.

developing the sensor with blender
This was my first time utilising blender. I created a 3D model of my soil sensor, for further visuals to ensure my users can have a greater and more realistic understanding of my idea.
